About Scott Heise

Hello, My name is Scott Heise and I am a Licensed mental Health Therapist located in Freeport, Illinois. I have over ten years experience as a therapist, in the Community Mental Health model. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology Trinity International University on Deerfield Illinois in 2009. My experience includes working with individuals with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, career challenges, mood disorders, post traumatic stress, personality disorders, substance use issues, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I have also worked with clients who struggle with stress, loss, abuse/neglect, and the frustrations of life.

I would describe my approach as empathetic, goal oriented, and client centered. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing and Logo Therapy to help my clients set goals and objectives, work through their traumas, and feel empowered once they have met their goals.

I enjoy helping people though their challenges in life. If you so desire, I can can provide counseling from a Christian perspective helping people and encouraging them to go deeper with God. I provide a warm and non-judgmental environment, using humor and prayer to work together and reach your goals. Everyone deserves to have someone they can trust and talk to; let me be that person for you. I look forward to working with you to help you meet your therapeutic goals.

“Scott has been very helpful in offering different ways to help me. I look forward to learning more with him.”

“I'm grateful to Scott for working with me through each problem. He suggested tools to help manage my anxiety (Prayer, music, exercise, quiet time, walking, visiting friends, even moving furniture )
Offered suggestions for proper rest each night. When I asked him to pray; he offered prayer immediately during our session. We talked about our different beliefs & he never disrespected my Catholic faith.
I recommend Scott as he is a Faith-filled man & faith is most important to myself & my husband. My husband supported me during this difficult year & he appreciated Scott's gentle approach to healing past hurts & working through current anxieties.
Thank you God for Scott.”

“Scott Heise is a great therapist. He is a great listener and provides many perspectives. I had a successful period of therapy which allowed me to grow by means of reflection, questioning, and identifying behaviors and patterns. I would work with him again when I am ready to rejoin Betterhelp. I gave him a chance without any judgements and it turned out to be the correct decision.”
