About Shannon Almeida

Hi, I’m Shannon Almeida (she/her), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with nearly ten years of experience supporting adults through anxiety, neurodivergence, life transitions, identity exploration, relationship challenges, and family-of-origin patterns.

Therapy with me is collaborative, grounded, and active. In session, we’ll use talk-therapy (emotional processing and body-based awareness) to understand what’s happening beneath the surface. Not just what you think, but what you feel, avoid, repeat, and carry in your nervous system. I use approaches such as ACT, CBT, DBT, somatic and nervous-system work, narrative, and systemic therapies – Always striving to hold an anti-oppressive lens.

I believe insight matters, but insight alone isn’t enough. Which means outside of session we’ll use behavior-therapy (worksheets, reflection questions, coping skills). I don’t require “homework” to be completed each time or expect perfection; but I do believe meaningful change happens when therapy becomes something that’s practiced in daily life.

Lastly, I approach my work with both clinical training and lived awareness. As a queer, neurodivergent cis-woman living with chronic fatigue and pain, I understand we are all carrying layered experiences – personal, relational, and systemic. I aim to create a space that feels grounded, affirming, and safe, where you don’t have to filter or mask. While also helping you build practical tools, understand your patterns, and move toward a life that feels more aligned with your values and needs.
