About Michael Johnnson

I have thirty five years of experience serving people with a variety of issues. I work comfortably with individuals, couples, and families of any age and ethnicity. I have advanced training experiences in Family-Systems Therapy, and Motivational Interview.
When I am given the honor of serving someone, I will offer an approach that feels most comfortable, and is the most effective for that person. Your experience, history, and current issues should guide the work we do together. I can use a quick ‘solutions’ focus. However the depth, complexity, and confusion of your experience will guide the style and pace of our work.
I am a 72 year old Christian man with the experiences of marriage, divorce, a blended and inter-racial family, non-binary family members, vocational issues, addiction recovery, and ADHD. I can counsel from a Christian perspective, if you prefer. You will be my partner in the formation and execution of your treatment plan. I ensure that you know the purpose, process, and desired outcome of each element of our work together. My effort is directed by your thoughts, feelings, and expressions.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

“Dr. Johnson has been incredibly supportive thus far, allowing me to lean into the positive and negative feelings I have around many life changes.”

“I love this guy (not literally). He really hears you! He listens! I would recommend him to anyone!”

“He was amazing with me. And it was willing to listen to where I was coming from”

“A great communicator and wonderful person to interact with.”

“Michael Johnson is professional, compassionate, and very qualified to help people come the better versions of themselves. I really appreciate Michael’s guidance.”

“Michael is kind, thoughtful, insightful and an excellent listener and offers genuine insightful thoughts and guidance”

“Has been reflective, and thorough”

“He is friendly, relatable, and a real person. Helps to brainstorm ideas instead of just throwing it back in our court constantly (as other therapists have done in the past). That's the point of therapy, right. For guidance when it's needed... when my husband and I are just not seeing all the options. Sessions feel more like a conversation with a trusted family friend! He also did not cancel, which was our first experience. I think that couldn't have been a better thing to happen, because we have him as our counselor now. My husband also feels comfortable with him.”

“He is very helpful and insightful in helping see things from a different perspective.”

“After many attempts with therapy I am glad to have finally found someone you can figure out whats wrong without blaming my anxiety or thinking I've made it all up. He listens but he is also direct which is good because it pushes me to be direct and face my feeling I've pushed down head on. I highly recommend him. If your someone who has tried therapy before and feel it hasn't worked, Michael does a great job trying new and different approaches.”

“Michael provides a good level of feedback but with relevant stories and parallels.”

“First session in, and I believe there is a path forward. That is a therapist worth working with.”

“So far he's been fantastic, in just a couple sessions. I felt better each time after talking with him. Very calming and listens, with excellent advice.”

“Michael Johnnson is a fabulous therapist. With compassion and understanding, he is able to quickly cut to the chase and help sort out the situation at hand. I have never met a more qualified counselor. I hope to return and request him in the future. Thank you, Michael, for your insight and suggestions. He’s a keeper! ?”

“Michael is kind, patient, listens and truly cares”
