About Dr. LaShonda Smith

I am a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience. I completed my doctoral training in the field of clinical psychology and have worked with clients of all ages who are challenged by a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, school struggles, health problems, and financial stress. I believe all people are deserving of dignity and respect and no one can be defined simply by their struggles. It’s my mission to bring mental health care to those who have been reluctant to seek care or have not had means or access. My approach is mostly cognitive-behavioral combined with person-centered and solution-focused features. However, I understand that all clients are individuals, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to counseling. We will work together in finding an approach that is the best fit for your needs.

There’s no doubt that making personal change can be scary, so congratulate yourself on taking the first step! The journey may not always be easy, but I am here to support you as you build a better you.

I look forward to working with you!

“Dr. Smith is very easy to talk to. Apart from listening and understanding, what I appreciate most is her ability to provide a ‘call to action’, that feels natural and empowering rather than forced. Her approach helps me process my thoughts while also taking meaningful steps forward.”

“Although I’ve only had two sessions with Dr. Smith, I find her to be a patient listener who is easy to talk to. Her pleasant tone and approach adds comfort to a situation, that for me, can feel a bit awkward. So far it’s been a pretty satisfying experience and I am pleased with the match.”
