About Anita Thomas-Bua

I am a mental health/psychotherapist licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin with over 20 years of experience in the human service working as a psychotherapist and counselor and providing life coaching as well. I have worked with adolescents, adults and geriatric populations. In addition I see clients with a wide range of mental health concerns including mood disorders.

My Montra is inspired by Helen Keller, “ Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success”. I educate and empower others to embrace healing and to restore balance in mind, body and spirit.

My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you.

“I love how caring and kind Anita is”

“Anita is so caring and sweet. You can tell she genuinely cares about you as a person and is wonderful with the help and guidance she gives. Amazing person and so thankful to call her my therapist!”

“Anita is thoughtful and inspiring. I always leave our session feeling lighter and confident in myself. I know she's in my corner!”

“Anita and I seemed to have a lot in common from the very beginning. I believe it helps to share similar experiences and age group. She has a firm grasp on the feeling and loss that comes from loosing all connection and communication with a child do to circumstances beyond your control. The only way to cope and move forward is to know that the situation is solely in God’s hands. His plan will be made know in His time. It is wonderful to be able to discuss your feelings of guilt and pain with no judgement. Thank you Anita for sharing your story and faith with me. She allows the developments to be freely discussed and we both know that “It hurts, but it’s not horrible.””

“Anita is a very nice person and really cares about her clients. She has helped me immensely through my issues with her methods”

“Anita is an amazing listener and gives very helpful advice for day-to-day progress in my mental health journey.”

“Anita is the absolute sweetest! She supported me on my journey of getting medicated for my anxiety, and helped me understand how to manage my intrusive thoughts and anxious behaviours on a day to day basis. I’ve seen growth in myself and my relationships thanks to her, and I’m finally at a point where I can take a break from therapy with the tools she’s given me to thrive. Thank you Anita ❤️”

“Anita is nice and caring. She is easy to talk to and tries to connect with you, so you feel more comfortable sharing things with her. I enjoyed my sessions with her.”

“You'd have to know me to understand how significant me opening up is. This woman has been kind, gentle, reassuring, patient while I unloaded random trauma that's all not connected but interconnected, given me advice on how to approach things, working with me on how to even develop the skills I'm lacking to be emotional healthy and strong. Honestly I could go on and on without really making a difference because you'd have to understand me to understand how important this is. All I can say that will stand out is after 31 years of silence in the face of doctors , she got me to open up and connect. She is there when she feels I need her even past the initial scheduled visits. This woman does work and if you are serious about bettering yourself, she is who I personally recommend.”

“Anita has helped me see where I need to focus my energy, how to move forward with acknowledging the past and creating a positive future. She is relatable and attentive, and extremely dedicated to your progress.”

“Empathy, kindness, authenticity, respect and simplicity. Everything to help me face my suffering and make little steps for healing. Thank you so much Anita.”

“I love talking to her”

“Anita is so easy to talk too. She truly listens to you and gives such great insight and tools to respect yourself, how to love yourself and how to reframe the way you think!! I highly recommend her!”

“I’m new to therapy and want to venture into other guides to get the maximum amount of experience. I’ve enjoyed my time with Anita. She’s professional and kind. And for no other reason becasue I want to see what’s out there.”

“Anita is amazing, thoughtful and insightful. She constantly offers a perspective that makes you feel like things are manageable. She is fun and conversational but not afraid to teach you how to confront your issues in a constructive way. Definitely recommended.”
