About Teresa Rutledge

I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who chose this profession later in life because I have always had the desire to help others in ways that will really make a difference in their lives. I am empathetic and a good listener. I provide emotional support to my clients without judgment. Many of my clients have suffered from trauma, isolation, and rejection from family and friends. Some of my clients have experienced episodes of self harm, suicidal ideations, and suicide attempts. I primarily use a client centered approach, as I believe that clients are capable of making the right decisions for their lives with the right support. In addition, I use other therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, mindfulness, positive psychology, anger management, motivational interviewing, and coping skills for anxiety and depression. I prefer to work with adults, but will work with older adolescents as well.

Mental health is as important as physical health, and when one suffers, the other suffers as well. So many people do not seek the help they need because of fear of being labeled or stigmatized. As human beings, we are creatures of memory, and sometimes our pasts keep us from becoming the person we want to be. I want to be the one to help you become your best self.

“She listens and guides me in the direction to help cope and feel better. She reassures me that I’m gonna be okay and I’ll get through what I’m going through”

“Teresa is very patient. I think id be sad if I had to switch therapist.”

“Teresa is, in my opinion (and based on a lot of experience with therapy!), a very good therapist. She is non-judgmental and very flexible with my requests, both therapeutically and schedule-wise. She also devises interesting challenges for me - homework for the week. I like this because it keeps my mind on therapy throughout the week, not just during my weekly sessions with her. She is very good.”

“Teresa, has been an excellent counselor. She listens and provides good feedback and methods to help.”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Teresa. I was first matched with the wrong therapist on Better Help, but Teresa came in and literally saved my life.
She was just what I needed to help me cope with the loss of my dad and to adjust to living without him. She listens, allowed me to vent and cry, but most importantly, she gave me the tools and advice that I needed to apply to my life.
I would highly recommend Teresa Rutledge!”

“Teresa is a phenomenal counselor! Our work together has empowered me to create a life full of meaning and overcome many of the challenges that kept me feeling stuck.”

“I honestly love how understanding Ms. Teresa is. She is encouraging and actually takes the time to listen, allowing you to finish your thoughts. She helps you through what’s troubling you, by giving you the space to express yourself. I’m happy I was able to spend the time I had with her. She has a kind spirt that helped me open up! I can not thank her enough.”
