About Sherry Friedman

To All My Prospective Clients:

Hello, I am Sherry Friedman, National l Board Certified Counselor (NCC), clinical mental health counselor licensed in Rhode Island, North Carolina, and South Carolina with twelve years of experience, and a newly author. “Midwife of the Soul: A Teaching Memoir Through the Lens of an HSP Psychotherapist” by Shira Friedman, is like three books in one. I share what life was like growing up as a highly sensitive child, teen, and adult through a series of vignettes with reflective processing following each vignette. Utilizing my own life as a template to educate my readers about neurodivergence concurrent with the highly sensitive personality type, I also encourage other HSPs to view their sensitivity as a constellation of many gifts. The book comes with an appendix of practical resources, many of which I introduce to my clients in therapy. My book is available on Amazon or where ever you buy books.

As an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person and HSP Psychotherapist), I am also listed on Dr. Elaine Aron’s website: https://hsperson.com
I am an Empath, Healer, and Reiki Master, and skilled at creating an emotionally safe space and building rapport with my clients. I empower my clients to discover and embrace their gifts and strengths and maintain healthy boundaries. I offer a warm, interactive counseling style and I practice “Listening with HEART” (Healing, Energy, Awareness, Resiliency, Transformation) and HeartMath coherence as a mindfulness-based treatment approach.

My clinical orientation is Jungian (transformational and psychodynamic) and my counseling approach is holistic and multi-dimensional. This means I explore my clients’ biopsychosocial, emotional, environmental, cultural, energetic, spiritual, and cosmological influences that may be creating stress, anxiety, grief, emotional trauma, relationship issues, and career challenges.

The ultimate goal of all therapy is self-discovery, transformation, and moving forward as the highest, best version of ourselves. This typically involves finding one’s life mission and soul purpose which involves deeper self-discovery.

Getting to the root cause of pain requires a rare form of bravery and courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life. If you are ready to take that first step toward change, I am here to empower and support you.

Looking forward to working with you!

All the best,

Sherry Ann (“Shira”) Friedman, NCC, LCMHC, HSP Psychotherapist

“Excellent therapist”

“Sherry (Share) is truly amazing in what she does. I’m shocked that BetterHelp got me the perfect match on the first try. From our first session, she has been more than helpful. Thank you.”

“Sherry is truly a special therapist. I have had several therapist throughout my life - depending on different locations I was in and different events taking place in my life. Finding a therapist that you resonate with can be such a daunting task. I truly feel a higher power brought me to this therapist. She challenges me, supports me, and always leaves me pondering things we discuss after our sessions. I feel very comfortable when speaking with her. She is the perfect mix of scientifically back evidence and free-form that I have been looking for. I’m very pleased !”

“I have appreciated all that Sherry has done to help me over the last several months. She is a good listener and I would recommend her to others.”

“I absolutely love Sherry and her ability to understand what techniques work and what may not. She is incredibly open, transparent, and flexible. She allows herself to be vulnerable with you as you share your vulnerability. That is a key part to how she helped me connect back with my inner self and begin my healing journey as I take ahold of this new chapter in my life. Wonderful and would recommend her to anyone who is feeling disconnected from their true selves.”

“She great.highly recommend”

“Sherry is so open minded, caring, and highly responsive. I love working with her. She is really supportive and non-judgemental. A really great therapist that has a plethora of knowledge in many areas, which helps me relate to her feedback and helps me process in my own way. I love her non-traditional methods she brings to the table. It makes me feel seen and heard, which is absolutely helping me heal. Cannot recommend her highly enough!”
