About Shawn Alyea

My name is Shawn Alyea. I’ve been a Licensed Professional Counselor and supervisor in Oklahoma for 30 years.
I practice compassion driven, creative counseling with a dose of humor. I believe even during the tough times in life we can find hope and joy. In fact, growth most often occurs during the circumstances that lead us to seek support. I operate from a compassionate perspective and believe everyone deserves to be respected and valued. That is central to my relationship with clients.
I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Narrative therapy approaches along with a variety of expressive techniques to reach a point of healing. I find this to be most effective when with people towards their personal goals.
I’ve worked with clients age 3 to 97 addressing the spectrum of human emotions from depression and anxiety to grief, anger, love, divorce and changes in life. I look forward to walking along side you during your journey!

He is always present and he listens intently to everything I have to say. He never dismisses me or make me feel that any of my thoughts or feelings are unworthy or trivial, which is something I have immense need for. “Shawn, is everything a counselor should be. Supportive, caring, and insightful. He doesn't judge and guides me through the many emotions a widow goes through during the first year. He responds quickly when he sees that I am having a bad day and reminds me that I can handle the bad day. I appreciate all that he does. I am thankful for him.”
