About Sarah

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina with about a decade of professional counseling experience. I have a wide range of experience with various demographics and concerns, but specialize in working with challenges related to family dynamics, parenting/guardianship, friendships, romantic relationships, boundaries, grief, trauma (including childhood and domestic abuse), fears and phobias, self-esteem and self-efficacy, depressive and anxiety disorders, ASD, ADHD, health issues, healthcare work, military families, and significant life changes.

I always strive to be a warm and approachable counselor who is non-judgmental, respectful, honest, and compassionate. While I maintain professionalism, I also strive to create a relaxed atmosphere during our sessions. (You can expect to see the real me, and I hope to see the real you!) Another one of my key strengths as a counselor is my adaptability; I make it a priority to understand your needs and preferences, tailoring my approach accordingly. My approach is person-centered, strengths-based and multicultural, and may combine aspects of the following:

* Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
* Schema Therapy
* Attachment-Based Therapy
* Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
* Existential Therapy
* Gottman Method
* Mindfulness Therapy
* Narrative Therapy
* Play and Filial Therapy
* Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

I also believe that nature, music, creativity, and humor can play important roles in mental health, and may incorporate these elements into my practice.

 And, I would love to learn more about your interests and perhaps find ways to bring them into therapy!

.If you think that you may ready to start a new chapter and that we might be a good match, I would be honored to accompany you, support you, and empower you on your journey toward holistic wellbeing. I look forward to getting to know you!

  • “She’s great! She’s helped me go about my life in a new way and think more positively.”
  • “I had terrible experiences with therapists - one of which I stopped believing in the practice entirely. When an event happened that I could not get past because of the level of trauma I was facing, after a series of other traumatic events, I reluctantly started these sessions. At every juncture, I was met with kindness, understanding, non-judgmental advice, and sincere compassion - when I braced myself for something for which I was expecting to be negated or reprimanded, I was validated, understood, and gently guided to think about things just a little differently. She is a wonderful therapist and I would highly recommend her.”
  • “Working with Sarah has been one of the most productive periods in my life. She sees what I am feeling and puts me at ease. She is knowledgeable and compassionate. I have addressed deep feeling of shame and embarrassment and she quickly yet kindly explained that I did not have any reason to be ashamed or embarrassed with her. She truly has my best interest in mind and I hope to keep her as my therapist as long as humanly possible.”
