About Richard Strand

I have dedicated twenty years of my professional life to the pursuit of a thorough and complete knowledge of human behavior. My intention is to understand people who want to change, experience satisfaction, serenity and the achievement of personal growth.
As a Clinical Social Worker I try to cover every possible scenario one could imagine. Looking at multiple dimensions of you as a person, your environment and timeline, as well as how affected you have been during your experience of the different life stages. Supporting the process to find or reach your own personal goals.
I use a bio-psycho-social-spiritual assessment to help determine the areas in your life you need or want support. My approach to therapy is client centered, utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing when appropriate. Most of my practice has focused on issues with trauma, anxiety, life transitions, and addictions.
I am aware of the technological transformation that has occurred in the way we live and communicate. Therefore, I have embraced online therapy as a way of providing relief and healing through therapy, counseling, coaching and support.
More importantly, my goal is to have a successful therapeutic relationship with you, based on a deep understanding of your needs.

“He's a kind person, good listener, well informed, and takes me seriously, which I greatly appreciate.”

“I feel comfortable with Richard he is very knowledgeable in what he does. I would definitely recommend him.”

“Richard has a wise presence and made me feel comfortable during some of my very first therapy experiences. I felt like I was talking to a family friend.”

“Richard made me feel seen, when I couldn’t see who I was myself. He helped me out of a terrible time; an extremely low time. He allowed my thoughts to echo out loud, and helped me to realize when those thoughts were destructive to myself. I couldn’t have gotten out of the depressive hole I found myself in without his guidance.”

“Richard is experienced and knowledgeable. He is very well versed in areas of addiction and his implementation of EMDR has helped me immensely. I am a healthcare professional and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a compassionate therapist who makes me feel like I am not being judged. He makes me feel like I can be honest and open. Most importantly, he has helped me with my mental health struggles.”

“Richard Strand is an honest man, a man whose words I strongly listen to. I’ve also needed a man’s advice, I’ve only ever felt comfortable with women, I’ve always seemed acceptance from women, through comfort and acceptance from men I saw as father figures/ofher. I made peace with acceptance, with his help, it’s an everyday thought process. Of course it’s more than men-women advice/acceptance, it’s his words and psychology that keep me going, I’m sure he can help much more people going through anything in life. Richard Strand is a good honest man I see that.”

“Richard is very kind and patient. I am still pretty early in my journey with him, but I am confident in continuing..”

“This has been an extremely positive experience”

“Richard is great ,down to earth , very easy to talk to. <br /> I highly recommend him for any type of therapy.”

“Richard's assertive approach allows me a safe space to work on my innerself without forcing myself into it. He respects my pace and I believe he can really help me through my inner child work”

“Richard quite frankly has saved my life, opened my eyes, cleaned me up and helped me build myself into a person again. I have no idea if I’d even be alive today without him.”

“Very helpful”

“I trust Richard with understanding what I'm going through. I need to work on myself”

“Richard has quite frankly helped me change my life. He has saved my life. Richard always takes the time to ask the right questions. He always takes the time to really listen to what you’re saying, and not saying.”

“Richard is very experienced. He has a multitude of tools in his Toolbox and our sessions are very structured with our therapy aims always in mind. We do have a laugh too though. I cannot say exactly what it was, but my thinking has changed. I am more confident, more compassionate (with myself) and much happier. I am so grateful I have found Richard through betterhelp and can recommend him 100%.”
