About Peter Santos

I’m Anthony Santos, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) based in New Orleans, LA, with over 10 years of experience working across clinical, school, and community settings. Originally from Ecuador, I have called New Orleans home for over 20 years — a city whose resilience, diversity, and spirit have deeply shaped who I am both personally and professionally. I am bilingual in English and Spanish, and have a deep commitment to serving diverse and underserved populations.

My approach is rooted in empathy, trust, and transparency. I believe that the therapeutic relationship itself is foundational to healing, and I work hard to create a space where every client feels genuinely seen and heard. My style is post-modern, grounded in the belief that your story and lived experience matter more than any fixed therapeutic mold. Drawing eclectically from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Existential approaches, I tailor my work to what resonates most with you.

I place a strong emphasis on wellness, self-care, and whole-person care — collaborating with primary care providers, psychiatrists, and other professionals when it serves your goals. Throughout my career I have worked with at-risk youth, immigrant families, unhoused individuals, and people navigating mood disorders, trauma, and major life transitions.

Outside of my work, I enjoy hiking mountain trails on road trips, training Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and cooking — all of which remind me how much growth happens when we stay curious and keep showing up.
If you’re looking for a counselor who will meet you where you are and walk alongside you with honesty and care, I’d love to connect.
