About Monica Englander

I’m an LCSW with 20 years experience in counseling individuals, couples, families and groups. I specialize in issues of Self Esteem, and healing our own sense of being able to manage our lives, our relationships, and our feelings in positive and effective ways.

I’m also very familiar with Corporate and EAP counseling, and supervising Interns who are working towards their license.

My clients come from all backgrounds and life experiences, all kinds of careers, and often, clients who themselves work in the helping professions, from therapists to doctors and nurses, to teachers and caregivers.

I’m respectful of culture, self-identity, and of beliefs: who you are and what has meaning for you are crucially important, and to the degree that these things are valued by you, the are valued by me. I believe in the dignity and human rights of all people.

My counseling style is inquisitive and interactive — I want to know what you need to tell me. I want to know what is causing your life to be anything less than pleasant, safe, and manageable. I want you to be okay, to feel okay, and to be confident in yourself and in your choices: I want you to feel safe, and that it is good to be you. Most of my clients present with some degree of past trauma, or injury to their sense of being worthy and needed — there are wounds in all of us, whether we consider them minor or overwhelming. Life is not easy, and if we are carrying unhealed wounds, every setback, every disappointment can re-trigger those pains of the past. I find that once the major wound of how we see ourselves is healed — when we see ourselves as someone we like and accept — someone we trust — then the rest of life’s problems are much easier and quicker to resolve.

Thanks for taking the time to read about how I can work with you. Not every therapist is a good fit for every client. I hope you’ve seen here something that clicks, that makes sense, and that feels safe and good to you. I’m very communicative, and I’ll always want to know how you feel, what you think, and what you want. Your needs need to get met. I hope that I can help you do exactly that.

I’m wishing you all the best, now and always. I believe all that it takes is a little help for us to find our way.
I’m looking forward to meeting you soon.

“Monica was my first therapist and made a huge impact on my life. She gave me a different outlook and perspective on things that made me feel heard, respected, and valued. I would recommend Monica to anyone. She helped me in such a short amount of time and I appreciate everything she's done for me. Thank you, Monica!”

“Monica is the best!! She is so supportive compassionate and understanding, and she makes me feel seen and heard. She’s helped me tremendously and I’m so grateful”

“Monica Englander has a very gentle but direct approach. I always feel heard, and she carries the insight that she gleans from what I share into the next session each week. I always feel comfortable, accepted, see, and supported.”

“Monica is such an amazing therapist. She helped pull me out of my darkest days with depression and anxiety and helped me shift my life to get me where I wanted to be. I always used to think that my problems were just due to a chemical imbalance, but she helped guide me to get to a place where I could see that I needed to make changes in my life and that these things were actually the cause for my sadness and anxiety. She gave me such strong advice and was always so supportive and really helped me love myself again. Thank you so much Monica, you are truly the best !”

“What I appreciate from the BetterHelp platform is the flexibility to find the right fit. It took me two tries but I found “the one” in Monica. Finding someone that is not just a master of her craft but an incredible human, was a gift to myself. Monica gets me on so many levels and strikes the perfect balance between nurturer and sage guide. I feel so grateful to have found her.”

“Monica is so compassionate, kind, supportive, and knowledgeable— I feel like I’m in the best hands and she’s truly helping me grow and feel better. Thank you Monica for all you do!”

“Amazing lady. While I don’t think I’m done, I feel we have made some really great breakthroughs. Monica has always been prompt and she’s always been very helpful and given me so many tips on how to handle certain situations in my life. I’ve already told other people to try BetterHelp because they have noticed that I am much happier and well adjusted person. While I always look forward to our sessions, I look forward to the day when I can say goodbye because Monica has equipped me all the help I need to have a much better life than what I was living . Thank you Monica.”

“Monica is one of the most understanding therapist, and she’s very respectful and responsive.”

“Monica Englander is a beautiful soul. I have no words to express the gratitude and respect I have for her. All other therapists in my past were ones who approached my situation with a sort objective approach. It didn't really feel like they validated my feelings and experiences. It felt more like they were trying their best to be unbiased and help me understand it and treat it from that lens, but it felt very lonesome and the relationship felt very sterile because it just felt like treatment. But with Monica, she is wonderfully supportive and fights for my cause and has so much faith and belief in me. She makes me feel like I'm understood and showers me with love and support. I think this is the best kind of therapist. I feel the love from her that I didn't feel with any of my other therapists. I know there's a lot for me to work on, but I feel like I've made great strides. To those who work with her and will work with her, you'll be very lucky to have her in your corner.”

“Monica has single handedly help me figure out what it is that is wrong with me. I still have a lot of work to do but I feel like I am making really great progress. She’s the best.”

“Monica is a great therapist with exceptional assessment skills. She has helped me on tips on how to deal with my anxiety and sadness. She's also super great at responding and giving advices.”

“She is an incredibly empathetic woman with such insight into the human mind I was really blown away, pleasantly, I might add. Although we will only have one session as she is experienced enough to know I should be talking to a man, she really impacted my life in just 30 min. Thank you Monica for using your gift, foresight and intelligence to help others”

“The best person you’ll ever meet to guide you. My life has changed so much in a year. It’s all thanks to this human right here.”

“Monica has been heaven sent. She has helped me tremendously with everyday life. She provides clear expertise and makes a huge difference each week.”

“I was hesitant when I started therapy. Monica somehow knew what I needed and we have worked through so many things over the past several months. She is thoughtful, compassionate, tough when necessary, and easy to talk to. I highly recommend Monica.”
