About Ken McCauley

I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor, having worked in a variety of settings for over 30 years. In those 30 years of experience, 14 years were as a licensed mental health therapist working with adult sex offender’s outpatient clinic, court ordered into treatment, clients addicted to illegal substances and court ordered into treatment, and in a community mental health clinic working with teenagers and adults who are struggling to manage their lives. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, ADHD, substance abuse, and sexual addictions. I worked 21 years in Human Services for the State of Utah, regarding child abuse and neglect, including adoption and related issues. I have worked many years in a community mental health setting with children and adults, working to support those struggling with a wide variety of challenges. Much of my work includes supporting those that struggle with financial stability, employment, relationships, housing, transportation, etc., to find and embrace the “Good Life” and happiness we all look for.

My counseling style includes actively listening to your story, listening for the strengths you possess to use as tools towards your desired goals. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don’t believe in stigmatizing labels. I consider myself an advocate for those that struggle to speak for themselves. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and rational-emotive counseling, managing distressing thoughts that negatively influence behaviors and undermine potential. I will help you set goals and identify strategies to fulfill your individual needs. I feel therapy is a journey into the undiscovered, and an act of courage that challenges our vulnerabilities. I look forward to working with you in that journey.
