About Katherine Waldrop

Hello, I have been in the mental health profession (focus on mental health and developmental disabilities) since 2005, obtaining full licensure in North Carolina in 2010. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings and with people from all walks of life. While living in Baltimore, I worked in a Special Education high school that provided a plethora of learning opportunities. Transitioning to North Carolina, I worked as an Intensive In Home Qualified Professional and Team Lead, eventually moving to Outpatient Therapy. Since 2010, I have provided counseling to children and adults in and out of family settings, coping with issues of anger, depression, low self-esteem, family separation, anxiety, trauma, etc. I am well versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy.

Through an eclectic approach, I specialize in counseling clients in addressing (but not limited to) depression, ODD, ADHD, adjustment difficulties, trauma and/or abuse, anxiety, and LGBTQ+. My counseling style is interactive, open, with a touch of tough love. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don’t believe in stigmatizing labels. I also believe that it is important to be honest in counseling, as it further facilitates growth and progress. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
