About Jane Rhea

I am a self-advocate and activist with over ten years personal and professional experience working with adults and children in the Disability Community. I am trained in Social Work and Disability Studies and have an interdiciplinary practice orientation. I call New Orleans home again after a three years in Chicago, and am dedicated to involvement in local and global Disability communities.

As a Coach and Counselor in Queer and Disability communities I understands the specific structural barriers people with diverse identities face. I bring a Neurodiversity and Disability pride perspective to coaching and counseling by sharing knowledge of history, theory, and social models. I believe employment or occupation seeking is a great place to begin exploring any change you want to make in your life. Employment counseling can bring up issues related to anxiety, depression, Autism, ADHD, chronic pain, and other Neurodiversities and Disabilities. I am Queer, Trans, and Non-Binary allied.

“Jane is helping me learn so much about myself and how to navigate in this crazy world.”

“Jane is excellent. She pushes me to problem solve, prepare for the future, and deal with life in small bites which is something I have struggled with in the past. I appreciate the way she approaches problems and that she teaches me how to walk through them to solutions vs just giving me the answer. Jane is very down to earth and supportive, she comes highly recommended by me!”

“I have been working with Jane for a very short period of time. I immediately felt very comfortable talking with Jane and sharing with her what I am dealing with. For me, that is the most important thing when working with a therapist. I need to be able to be 100% honest, open, and transparent. If not, it’s wasting not only my time, but hers as well. What I really like about Jane is that she allows me the opportunity to take our session in whatever direction I want or need to take it, but if I do not have a direction, she will step in and help me explore other areas. I am looking forward to her challenging me to explore areas that may not be comfortable. I trust Jane completely. I trust her to the point that I could find a different therapist that accepts my insurance, but I feel it is in my best interest to continue with Jane even if it means I continue to pay completely out of pocket. I am truly at a crossroads in my life and I am thankful to have Jane to take this journey with.”
