About Isabel Sanchez Cummings

Hello, I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisory Designation (LISW-S). I have over 10 yrs of direct mental health experience. I am grounded in a commitment to social justice, personal well-being, and the development of the whole person. I focus on depression, anxiety, stress, life changes and parenting (especially for those who care for individuals w/special needs). Typical areas of concern are emotional well-being, managing stress, relationship or family issues, identifying/exploring patterns and making desired changes. I work with clients through the process of becoming healthy individuals, offering them a place to receive both nurture and compassionate challenge. My goals are to assist individuals in the areas of 1) Self-Empowerment and Acceptance, 2) Decision-making, 3) Developing and implementing coping skills, 4) Identifying and using internal and external resources and 5) Improved positive well-being. I work with individuals (straight or LGBTQIA). I am highly competent in a variety of cultures, religions, and social and interpersonal issues. My practice core values are:
1) Autonomy – Self-determination; behavior an individual stands behind and, if reflective, would endorse and value. Autonomy is the process of doing something by one’s own decision or initiative.
2) Competence – Providing high quality, professional counseling services provided by a qualified LISW-S.
3) Effectiveness – A commitment to on-going education. It is knowing, understanding and implementing the best treatment practices available, practicing within my areas of expertise, and referring clients to other resources whenever it is in their best interest.
4) Integrity – Upholding a professional ethic regarding respect, privacy and confidentiality.
5) Respect & Diversity – Recognizing all aspects of our humanity and honor that all of these aspects remain salient to every life. This includes age, physical abilities and cognitive talents, socioeconomic status, political viewpoints, religious/spiritual and/or philosophical beliefs, sexuality, gender, racial/ethnic identities, and other unique characteristics.

I offer a safe and non-judgmental place, and I would be happy to work with you.

“Honestly Isabel is one of the best therapists that I’ve worked with. You can tell she genuinely cares about what you are going through and takes the time to actively listen to what you want to share. I’ve only met with her a couple times and I look forward to meeting with her more.”

“Better help and Isabel has helped me work through so much! I keep returning because it is a great tool. I wish I could have started sooner than I did!”

“Working with Isabel has been such a positive experience. From the very beginning, she came across as a genuinely kind and good person who truly cares about the people she works with. Even early on in our sessions, I started reaching important milestones and noticing real progress.
She has helped me see things more clearly and approach situations with a calmer, more thoughtful mindset. One of the biggest things I’ve gained from working with her is learning to slow down and think before reacting. I’ve realized that not everything needs to be said in the moment, especially when it comes from anger or fear.
Because of her guidance and support, I feel more confident in myself and in the way I handle challenges. I’m really grateful for the perspective, clarity, and growth I’ve experienced while working with her.”

“Very pleased with Isabel.”

“Isabel understands me. Helps me break things down. Gives me insight of others possibly view point. Amazing support to my support system.”

“I can’t say enough about my therapist! She is absolutely amazing and a true Godsend!”

“Isabel is so kind, sensitive, compassionate, and funny! I love a bit of levity whilst working through tough subjects. She's really helped me find balance.”

“I will forever recommend Isabel! She listens well, offers me lots of solutions, explains things multiple ways if I'm looking for another way to do something. Has taught me a lot of tricks for handling my anxiety and CPTSD. 10/10 every visit.”

“Dr. Isabel is always on point, compassionate and knowledgeable. I cherish our conversations.”

“So far she is knowledgeable, constructive and gives feedback with suggestions and solutions. She has wonderful insight and seems to have experience beyond what a textbook or mainstream terminology could help with. I’m very optimistic and excited to move forward.”

“Isabel has been incredible! She sees me. She helps me understand myself better than I ever could on my own. She's been so incredibly thoughtful while helping me traverse my own mountains. Her warmth, understanding, and abilities to help me actualize/execute are only a few reasons (of the many) that make Isabel an incredible fit for my needs and I'm so incredibly grateful.”

“Great as usual, very caring and professional. Those are some of the main reasons I’m continuing my journey of bettering my mental health.”

“Isabel is SO comforting & so wise. I feel like I’m talking to a friend & she so easily puts me at ease & makes me feel like I can take on my challenges. :)”

“My therapist Isabel Sanchez-Cummings is a literal God send! I am so lucky to have been connected with her. I get honest support and not the terrible enabling kind honest mirror to action help! I am very fortunate, I wish everyone that needs therapy could have a great match like this the first time out and honestly get the help they deserve.”
