About Heather Horvath

Oh the healing power of therapy! I feel passionate that everyone has a unique life story, and that some of life’s chapters deserve a closer look to bring about improved coping, healing, and positive change. My approach is eclectic and trauma informed. I draw upon reality theory and the study of behaviors and neurocognitive development. I use CBT, mindfulness, and other practices as appropriate. The goals of therapy and the techniques used are based on each client’s individual needs. I am proud to be working with community agencies, corrections and families for over 15 years.
I have experience with At-risk families involved with the child welfare system, Severely Emotionally Disturbed, Inmate rehabilitation, Anger issues, clients with traumatic brain injuries and support persons, clients adjusting to significant changes in functional status due to illness, injury, aging, geriatric mental health and childcare mental health consultation.
I have special training in Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma Work, Grief and Loss Therapy, Traumatic Brian Injury, Health and Rehabilitation, Inmate Rehabilitation, Geriatric Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Anger Management

“I’ve only done a couple sessions with Heather so far but I already feel comfortable speaking with her. She helps keep me on topic but I never feel like I’m forced to talk about anything which is greatly appreciated.”

“Heather is extremely easy to talk to and really meets me where I'm at. She never pushes too hard but is adept at gently moving a conversation into a deeper and more introspective discussion. She has helped me so much with my struggles to communicate my needs and be kind to myself. Plus she has a great sense of humor!”

“I've never had therapy before and was not sure what to expect. I've always felt I was able to keep a good grip and do various techniques on my own to help improve whatever I was struggling with, but it's just not the same. Being able to share completely freely, and having an expert dig into your issues helps so much.

Heather has been great with advice, various small practices to help improve my situation. She's always felt like a good listener AND been able to dig deeper into the origin of issues, and giving he helpful tips & exercises to help overcome them.

The therapy sessions so far have taught me that even if I think I'm coping well & have a "plan of action", it's just not the same as writing/talking it out, and getting some expert help. It's so worth it, give it a try!”

“Heather is very knowledgeable and has great ideas to share with me.
She makes me feel that I can talk about anything and I won't be judged but also she will give advice on how to manage what I am dealing with.
I would highly recommend her!!
Thankyou !!”

“So far we have only had two sessions and I’m already feeling like I have had a lot of progress.”

“Heather is very helpful, knowledgeable, and super understanding. Despite coming to her with so many hard problems, she gave me ways to improve my life that worked very quickly, and hope that I can heal from these problems. I am glad that she is my counselor.”

“A wonderful person who listens to your problems and offers a different perspective on situations. She has helped me cope with my anxiety and stress and has managed to help me massively. Highly recommended Heather .”

“In our first therapy session Heather was very understanding and built rapport. I look forward to moving forwards with her and the teachings that she can provide.”

“She's great.
I'm pretty sure she's extremely busy with other clients and her own life.”

“She is awesome, actually answers all your questions about things and does not make it feel like an interrogation line of questioning, it feels like your talking with a person and not being read like a book.”
