About Dr. Paul Deutsch

Welcome! Thank you for taking a minute to explore a bit about who I am. My name is Paul Deutsch and I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for the past 15 years. I recently received my Doctorate of Education in Counselor Education and Supervision from Viterbo University. I have been working in a community based rural setting for my career. I have been a member of clinical teams and have been working in a solo practice for the past 4 years. I have a broad base of clinical skills with an emphasis on complex challenges like personality disorders (and related concerns like self-harm), depression, anxiety and panic, LGBTQ stressors, family dynamics and the various forms of marital conflict.

My theory of practice is based in a Humanistic approach. I could be seen as a Post-modern (Solution-Focused, Narrative) but also have strong ties to interventions related to Cognitive Behavioral Theory and Radical Acceptance. I am deeply connected to the metaphysical qualities and energy work associated with our mental process, both as it relates to our relationship with our intuition and our interactions with our external worlds. These skills connected with my understanding of neuroscience and brain functionality have supported my effective use of language to develop deep and supportive rapports with my clients.

I spend my time off from counseling as a Personal Trainer and Strength and Conditioning coach and have extensive training in nutrition and physical wellbeing. I also love to ski and ride fat tire bike. An additional skill set is within Business Coaching and have helped many clients improve their work lives, keep jobs or change to better ones while supporting an improved sense of self. I look forward to having the opportunity to find ways that I can support your journey. The road is hard and living a life brings suffering but these days we don’t have to do that alone.

Be well, Paul

“Highly recommended”

“I've been working with Dr Deutsch for a few months now, he's been of great support following the end of my marriage. I've learned a lot on myself and how to cope with challenges.

He is the best therapist I've ever worked with.”

“Dr. Deutsch is the first counselor I have really been able to connect with. I feel he understands me and yet challenges me to think differently about situations. He helped me through a very difficult time earlier this year. I wish I would have met him 10 years ago.”

“I find Dr. Deutsch honest and his work is straightforward. He places the best interests of our relationship as the top priority.”

“We would highly recommend Dr. Deutsch. He provided us with tools and tips on how to rebuild and rekindle what we thought was lost. Thank you for everything!”

“Dr. Deutsch seems very educated in his field of study and very qualified for his position. He seems to always have a flexible schedule to allow for sessions at most times of the day and he always responds in a reasonable ammount of time via the text chat.”

“I’ve been working with Dr. Deutsch since 2019. He’s the best and he’s one of good ones. I would recommend him to everyone!”

“10/10 5 Stars Dr. Deutsch is great.”

“He is a great therapist and makes me think about different ways and topics in one huge problem. he listens and communicates very well. over all would recommend having him as a therapist”

“I’ve had close to a dozen therapists in my life, but no one compares to Dr. Deutsch. He is sincere and has great recommendations for me to help me get to where I want to be.”

“Worked with Dr. Deutsch multiple times now. He helped me through some deeper issues and I work with him now mostly for spot checks when I hit speedbumps. I really enjoy his direct and lighthearted style. It keeps me looking directly at the problem but with compassion for myself.”

“I really like how he asks pertinent leading questions when there is a silence and he keeps the session moving. He is not afraid to say the things that might offend, but should be pointed out, and he does so with tact and professionalism.”

“Very helpful! Listens well, understands the issues. Expertise in eating disorders and anxiety in general. Would recommend 100%”

“Dr. Deutsch is caring, compassionate and very down to earth. I like his calm demeanor and grounded approach to guiding me in tackling the problems that life hands us. I look forward to my sessions with him and I am not a "therapy" guy, well I should say that I was not a "therapy" guy but I am now and see the value in having a knowledgeable therapist to talk to on a regular basis.”

“Dr. Deutsch is very knowledgable and it was clear from the start that he has lots of experience in this field. The approach we used was strength focused which was incredibly helpful. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a "spotter" - to notice your thought processes, and walk you through them with honesty and respect.”
