About Christopher Gerou

I want to share a bit of myself. I graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with my Masters in Counseling; I also attended Hood College in Maryland and graduated with another Masters in Thanatology (Thanatology or Deathlore is the scientific study of death and the losses brought about). Then I attended Carthage College, got my undergraduate degree in Sociology in Kenosha, and grew up. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor in WI and IL.
Communication, nondiscrimination, trust, and confidentiality are major cornerstones of my counseling practice. I’ve been practicing for over 25 years and have a solution-focused counseling approach. I specialize in all “Issues of Living and Dying” and Grief with all ages. I’ve worked in and out of various educational clusters. As a counselor, I worked for the State of Wisconsin Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

“So glad I found Christopher after a couple failed tries. I don’t like therapy, but from our first session he made me feel like this is doable, like I’m not alone. His experience, compassion and empathy makes me feel safe, secure and guided on a journey that can be hard to do. Grateful I found him.”

“Christopher was very kind and helped me get through a difficult period during the pandemic. In a time when we were all very disconnected he helped me feel more connected.”

“Christopher is very professional, kind and respectful. Great listener, gives positive feedback. He checks up and makes me feel validated. He has helped me a lot in just a short spam of time. I highly recommend him and he deserves a recognition. Thank you.”

“Christopher has really helped me overcome some family trauma and drama. He really helped me find the correct perspective that allowed me to let go of a lot of things. I’ve learned so much from this man. Thanks, Christopher!”

“Christopher was the best! Super supportive and really let me control how I wanted therapy to go! I would definitely recommend!”

“Mr Gerou is the best therapist I’ve had, he listens well, and is very casual with being late or busy etc. I had an excellent experience and would definitely recommend him to others. He read me like a book on our first two sessions and knows how to make me laugh when I was upset.”

“I have a really good therapist and I feel like that is the bare minimum. I wish there was a guide or something for picking a therapist because whenever I talk to my friends about betterhelp they are always worried about WHICH therapist they get.”

“Chris makes me laugh, puts a smile on my face, and ultimately forces me to go deeper. He has amazing wisdom and a wealth of applicable experience. I would highly recommend him to anyone! I have made so much progress already and I am very grateful.”

“Christopher has been really helpful with giving me tools to navigate life and a cross country move as a young adult. I would highly recommend him!!”

“Fantastic help during the pandemic! His career coaching was invaluable during some dire times and helped foster the hope that I needed to pursue and achieve my goals.”

“Christopher has been such a big help for me as I navigate anxiety issues with motherhood and teaching. I’ve greatly appreciated his support and the tools he has given me. I would highly recommend Christopher.”

“My time with Christopher was really enlightening. He gave me to tools I needed to move forward. Very helpful and highly recommended.”

“I am beyond grateful for the help I have received from Christopher. Initially, I was extremely hesitant about beginning therapy online, but with every session, I not only became comfortable in therapy, but more comfortable in my own skin. These unprecedented times regarding the COVID-19 pandemic had led me to fall into a hole I didn't think I would ever get out of. Christopher renewed my optimism and helped me see that every season brings something new and that celebrating myself, authentically, is what will help me find joy.”

“Christopher helped me find my self-worth again after a pretty bad breakup. We worked through some of my repetitive, self-destructive behaviors so that I could love myself first, and relationships second. So thankful for his help!”

“Christopher is an expert in his area, Death & Dying. Yes, that's right, and if you think you don't need support in this area, then you may want to reconsider. I came to Christopher through my EAP when I reached out for help when both of my parents were diagnosed with COVID within a week of my brother finding out he had cancer. Christopher not only helped me re-affirm my inner strength & coping skills, but he has been invaluable in helping me have difficult life & end -of-life planning discussions with my family. I am eternally grateful for Christopher, his clear & concise ways of communicating are exactly what is needed to navigate these conversations.”
