About Bobbie Shannon

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor licensed in North Carolina and a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina. I have over 35 years of experience working as a psychotherapist in mental health facilities and private practice. I am Eagala certified and have been providing Equine Assisted Psychotherapy for 16 years. I have worked with adolescents, adults and couples and families with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, domestic violence, trauma and sexual trauma, self esteem and confidence issues and addictions.

My counseling style is direct, warm, and interactive. I meet clients where they are in their process and believe that clients have the best answers for themselves and need help in finding those answers. I have an eclectic approach which includes, Cognitive Behavioral, Client Centered, and Solution Focused modalities.

My hope is to assist others in working towards finding their best and authentic self.

“Taking a step with Better Health was the best gift I've given myself in 51 years. I was matched with Bobbie Shannon who I immediately connected with, felt safe with, and easily opened up to. She exudes gentleness, warmth, empathy and kindness. She really took the time to understand what I most need to heal in my life without judgement and much compassion. I felt so embarrassed and ashamed to ask for support but quickly realized with Bobby's support, and the resources she provided me, that I have made very normal choices in my life for a person who has lived through much trauma. Bobby helps me connect to the part of me that feels wounded, and give love to myself. I've learned skills I will use forever. I always look forward to my sessions with eagerness. Bobby is the very best I've ever worked with. So grateful.”

“Wonderful therapist.”

“Treatment with Bobbie Shannon is one of the greatest gifts I've given myself in a long time. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. I have a lot of emotional needs. She empowers me to work on what feels most important for me in a given week, yet building on what we've already talked about. She is a very warm and kind therapist. I feel valued, respected, and understood. She has a high degree of empathy. She is everything I've been needing and wanting in a therapist. She supports our sessions with great resources. And I always feel lighter after we talk. I couldn't recommend her enough!!”

“Bobbie is warm, and supportive. She has helped me be mindful, reflective and take action to help me make progress towards my goals., She has lots of experience in mental health.”

“Bobbie is a wealth of knowledge and experience. She has so many different ways of approaching the challenges that I present to her. She listens intently and I always feel seen and heard after our sessions. She has a compassionate and yet no nonsense way of delivering her messages that make me feel like I’m not being babied, but respected. I really enjoy my sessions with her.”
