About Amanda

Major Amanda L. Alexander, a retired US Army Combat Veteran and an experienced behavioral health professional with three mobilizations which included two deployments in the area of Combat Operation of Afghanistan. She is also a Civilian Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Social Work Supervisor (LCSWS), and a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW). For more than 25 years, Amanda has devoted her military and civilian careers to public service. She served within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), in public schools, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and Detention Facilities. Through her work, she helped individuals, families, organizations, and communities become healthier and stronger.

Amanda’s career brings together military leadership and clinical expertise. As an Army leader, she commanded service members, supervised mental health personnel, and directed mental health operations. She brought evidence-based practices to the Department of Defense designed for specific care needs of service members. She admirably demonstrated the importance of courage, teamwork, discipline, and caring for others. As a clinical social worker and educator, Amanda supported people through challenges, helped professionals build their skills, and encouraged others to grow with confidence.

One of Major Alexander’s greatest strengths is her ability to make difficult topics easier to understand. She connects with people from many backgrounds and turns complex ideas into practical lessons that can be used in everyday life. Her presentations invite people to participate, ask questions, think carefully, and learn without fear of being judged.

Amanda believes mental health is an important part of a person’s overall well-being. Her work reminds us that asking for help is a sign of strength, that compassion can change lives, and that no one should have to face a difficult time alone. Her leadership is guided by service, honesty, compassion, and a strong desire to help others reach their full potential.

Through her years of service, Amanda has shown that strong leaders do more than guide others—they listen, teach, encourage, and create spaces where people feel supported. She continues to use her knowledge and experience to strengthen individuals and organizations and to make a positive difference in the communities she serves.
