About Susan Wolanyk

Welcome to Betterhelp! My name is Susan Wolanyk and I am an LPCC-S in OH and NY with 11 years experience working with moderate to severe mental illnesses in a community setting amongst a diverse population of Hispanic, African-American, East European and immigrant communities from around the world. So many clients were filled with shame and fear which birthed in me a compassion and patience for our human vulnerability. I am a third generation immigrant and familiar with immigrant challenges that occur for each generation. My masters program also heavily stressed clinical humility in dealing with hurting people. My work focused on grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse with adults and teens. This is a second career for me after working in corporate settings while raising five children. I use an eclectic, person-centered approach which involves working with what motivates you and utilizes your unique, individual strengths. I will come alongside and have hope for you when you can’t believe what you want is possible. My goal, as a therapist, is to find solutions that bring lasting change and set you up to take your unique place in this world; a world that needs you and your gifts. My specialties are transitions, life adjustments, parenting issues, anger management, grief and loss. immigrant issues. Working together, we will build a strong therapeutic alliance based on mutual regard and respect. Congratulations on taking action to build your best life!

“So far so good. I’m still in the early stages of therapy with Susan and we are both getting to know each other but the positives so far is that she’s easy to speak with, very understanding of my reasoning for therapy and allows me time to always express myself during each session. I think Susan is all the right pieces of what a good therapist ought to be.”

“Susan is very thoughtful and extremely caring. I enjoyed our session very much. She is also a great resource for materials and readings to help with managing emotions.”

“Susan is absolutely amazing. From day one she was easy to talk to and had a calming presence that was felt even without being in the same room. She made it easy for me to share what is on my mind without feeling judged. Susan listens and offers positive insight or different ways of shaping the situation that is truly helping with my anxiety and stress.”

“Susan has been wonderful. She listens well, asks questions to better understand the situation we are discussing and challenges my way of thinking while maintaining my dignity and integrity. She also has a wealth of knowledge that she shares to expand my way of thinking”

“Suzanne is incredible. Her energy makes you calm. She is patient and understanding. She put in a space that allows you to speak and express yourself without feeling scared of vulnerable or wanting to leave out information. She takes notes she remembers, regardless of how long the sessions are and she definitely shows interest and gives you the individual attention and Space that you need. Also, she’s an excellent therapist recommended. I asked for ChrisTian based and she’s just that she loves me to rationalize and be able to link my experiences through my faith while also providing simple and valid information or examples to solve my questions or allow me to Express my thoughts that are somewhat complicated. I highly recommend her and she is an excellent addition to the team and I’m so lucky to have met her.”
