About Dana Spitz

I am an LCSW licensed in the state of New Jersey with over 20 years of experience working as a therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, trauma, emotional abuse, and parenting struggles. I have worked with adults, families, children and teenagers.

When I engage a client in counseling, my approach is client centered. I will work with you to determine what the underlying cause is of your struggles and develop goals with you to lessen and manage those struggles. I work with sensitivity and sensitivity and compassion. I work as a partner with my client, focusing on their strengths and moving them forward to healing. My approach combines cognitive behavioral and solution focused therapy. We will develop a treatment plan together to meet your specific needs, and when we identify a barrier that gets in the way of your specific needs, we will work on a plan to remove that barrier.

It takes courage and humility to admit that you need help, and to seek counseling for that help, but taking that first step toward a change will lead to insight about why you are struggling and new skills to manage your struggle and heal from your pain. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support you and empower you in your journey of healing through your pain. My goal is for your healing, and to walk with you in the process.

I truly look forward to working with you!

“I have been with Dana on and off for almost 4 years. I love how she allows you space to tackle things on your own but will give you a warm welcome if you decide to return. I’ve built a strong respect and fondness for her not only as a therapist but as a person. With her assistance I have improved my life for the better.”

“Dana is a God send, may God truly bless her for all she does”

“Dana is a wonderful therapist. I’ve only been seeing her for 2 weeks and I can already see improvements in my mental health. She is a blessing sent from God!”

“My sessions with Dr. Spitz have gotten me through a really tough period in my life. And while she assisted me in dealing with my skin deep emotions she has also helped me to look deep into my underlying behaviors that have inhibited any real progress in my behavior. Since our sessions have began I’ve improved my day to day relationships with the people in my life.”

“Dana is very patient and very knowledgeable plus helpful”

“Dana has been a tremendous help for me. Teaching me how to make the right decisions for myself.”

“Great fit for my needs!”

“Dana has been an amazing therapist! I was always so turned off by the idea of therapy, as I felt I already knew what someone would say to me. But after working with Dana these past few months, I can see just how wrong I was! Dana is kind, understanding, and really helps you get to the root of your problem and go beyond just the surface. I'm so blessed to have found Dana on my mental health journey and I hope she can do the same for many others in their journeys”

“Dana has been very helpful to me. She's giving me tools on how to handle my greif with comfort and understanding.”
