About Jennifer Barker

Expression is essential in everyday life, especially when working through difficult times. In some circumstances, it can be difficult to verbally express oneself. Creative expression can demonstrate one’s thoughts and feelings in a tangible way that verbal expression is not always able to. Art Therapy can be helpful in exploring one’s thoughts and feelings and fostering self-awareness. As an Art Therapist, I have the ability and knowledge to bring artmaking into therapy to help facilitate the healing process. I practice with a person-centered, strength based, creative approach to meet clients where they are and help them start to make changes and heal.

I graduated with my Masters in Art Therapy with a Specialization in Counseling in 2014 from Seton Hill University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), as well as a Board-Certified Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC). I have experience with Trauma Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, as well as Crisis Intervention.
