About Jennifer McLucas

Hello! My name is Jenn and I am a licensed professional counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland. I have had over 15 years experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings including residential, day programs, outpatient, in-home, and addictions. Although that seems like a lot, all it really means is I have experience working with a broad range and severity of clinical issues. I have the most experience working with addictions, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and anger management. I also have experience working with bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorders and trauma.
I use a person-centered integrative approach in treatment. This means I begin where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs while being sensitive to how your life choices impact your experience. I primarily use evidence-based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling.
Additionally, I would like to highlight that our therapeutic relationship and sessions feature a no judgement zone. Therapy should be a place where you feel safe and comfortable with sharing thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of being judged. I would describe my style as warm and supportive, and I am ready to help you tackle your struggles head-on. Collaboration is important, together we can work on establishing concrete realistic goals and steps for you to help overcome your current problems.

Mental health is a journey, and while you may feel lost now, that is not an indication of how your life will continue. It takes a lot of strength and will power to work towards a more fulfilling and happier life, if you are ready to take the next step, I’m here to support and empower you.

“she is great with the balance of listening and giving you the comfortability to express how you feel but also being honest in her assessment and continuing towards the goal of improving and digesting information. 10/10 would recommend!”

“Jennifer is very compassionate and thoughtful. She has really been good about meeting me where I am and not pushing me into uncomfortable territory too quickly. At the same time, she does push me to think about things differently and change my perspective on things I'm struggling with. I have enjoyed my sessions with her thus far, and I do think they're making a difference.”

“I was very skeptical of the idea of counseling in general but online counseling was an option I felt more comfortable with. Jennifer McLucas is an amazing counselor who provides a comfortable environment (even if it is online) for me to share the things I am struggling with! She provides achievable and practical solutions to help me work through what I am feeling! Definitely one of the best decisions I have made!”

“Jennifer is so kind, warm and knowledgeable. She gives me space to share my thoughts and get my thoughts in order. I look forward to our sessions!”
