About Clarence “Rick” Haynes

Hello and welcome! I’m glad you made the decision to seek help. You did the right thing.

My name is Rick Haynes. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience helping people solve life’s problems. I am certain that with time and working together, I can help you as well. Life can be challenging and overwhelming at times making us feel depressed and anxious. Frequently, our mind seems to have a mind of its own, dwelling on worry and indecision. At those times, we suffer emotionally and aren’t at our best either at home or work. Our self-esteem takes a hit, and we feel defeated. By reaching out for help, you have taken the first step toward feeling better.

I believe a trusting therapeutic relationship forms the basis for someone to share thoughts and emotions and change her or his life for the better. Our sessions will provide you a safe place to explore your emotions and solve problems. Our starting point will be where you are now, work at pace you find comfortable, and discover ways for you to take charge and begin to feel better. You may feel stuck today, but with effort you will get unstuck.

I find a combination of interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness exercises, and supportive psychotherapy to be most helpful to clients. In concert, this skill set helps a person change how they think, which changes how they feel and behave. We will set goals and solve problems in this practical hands-on manner. When you are ready, I may ask you to keep a journal of your thoughts. Awareness of your thinking patterns will be essential.

If my experience and approach is what you are searching for, I would welcome the opportunity to work with you.

“Rick is so understanding and friendly! He has helped with my anxiety so much, walking me through many techniques to help me in moments of panic. After a year of therapy, I now don’t know what I would do with out him.”

“Rick is an extremely understanding, thorough and patient therapist. I believe I have an excellent rapport with him. I generally look forward to our therapy sessions. I feel extremely fortunate to have been connected with him.”

“Great communication and gives great feedback”

“Rick is kind, empathetic, and genuinely helpful. Being a millennial woman that has had a couple different therapists I am always skeptical of a male therapist. My expectations of Rick’s ability to relate and mold his feedback to fit me have been thoroughly exceeded.
I look forward to my appointments with Rick and hope to continue to see him as a therapist as long as he will have me! (:”

“Kind, thoughtful therapist that takes the time to research additional resources and provides a think outside the box approach which can be eye opening. Honest, laid back, great listener, and clearly cares.”

“Thank you Rick for what you do..”

“Great therapist thank you”

“Rick is an exceptional therapist. He listens incredibly well and creates space for me to share openly. Even if I need to jump in while he’s speaking because something feels important to say, he never seems bothered — his patience and attentiveness are top-notch.

He takes thorough notes and provides detailed analysis and CBT strategies in his written follow-ups, which shows me he takes the time to carefully think through my situation before offering solutions.

On a personal level, he’s been very relatable to me. His familiarity with expat life (his son lived in Japan) and his deep knowledge of Buddhism have made our conversations feel especially relevant and connected to my own experiences.

Above all, he’s gentle, kind, and steady — never raising his voice or losing his temper. I feel supported, understood, and respected in every session.”

“Understands all the concerns and problems very clearly and provides very concise and clear methods to deal with certain issues. Very professional and very experienced. After one session you feel that you have been helped greatly.”

“Rick is the best listener that I have in my life right now. I appreciate being heard, because that is one way that I notice myself feeling valued.”

“Rick makes me feel both heard and comfortable. He engages in active listening, often repeating my own words to help me remember what issues I am working through. This shows me that he cares and is here to help me as best as he can.”
