About Alissa Bohmann

Welcome.

Deciding to begin therapy can come with a mix of emotions—uncertainty, anxiety, maybe even fear. As a therapist, I deeply respect the courage it takes to take that first step, and I hope to walk alongside you as you navigate your own journey.

My approach to counseling is eclectic, drawing from various methods to best support your unique needs. I believe our past experiences shape how we show up in the present, and that exploring these layers can lead to powerful insight and growth. I also work from a strengths-based perspective, holding the belief that people—both children and adults—are resilient, and with the right support, can access the tools they need to move forward.

In addition to addressing a range of mental health concerns, I have a particular understanding of issues related to adoption, foster care, and multicultural identity. These are deeply personal and complex areas, often connected to core questions of identity: Who am I? Where do I come from? I’ve completed specialized training through the Center for Adoption Support and Education, and I strive to offer a space where these stories can be explored with care.

You might be wondering whether we’d be a good fit—and that’s an important question:

*You’re hoping to work with a therapist who is warm, supportive, and able to gently challenge you when needed.

*You value an eclectic, individualized approach to counseling that draws from multiple methods to meet your unique needs.

*You appreciate a strengths-based perspective that recognizes resilience in both children and adults.

*You’re looking for someone who values mutual respect and time, and who can both hold space and help you move toward solutions.

*You want a therapist you can laugh with, cry with, and grow with—someone who is present, engaged, and committed to the work alongside you.

If any of this resonates with you, feel free to reach out to discuss availability. I’d be honored to be part of your journey.

“We are just around a month of talking, and she has been very good for me… I have a way to go but I recommend her if you need help on your journey”

“Alissa immediately made me feel comfortable talking with her. She asks gently and thoughtful questions, offered suggestions and resources, and is patient and understanding. I am very thankful to have been paired with Alissa through BetterHelp.”

“Alissa is attentive, thoughtful, professional, knowledgeable, and kind. I'm grateful for the support she's given me thus far and look forward to her continued guidance through my healing journey.”

“Alissa has helped me in regards to the issue with the passing of my husband and learning to better communicate with my family. I appreciate her.”

“Very understanding and responsive”

“Alissa and I connected right away which I have been yet to find in my search for therapy outside of BetterHelp. Alissa listens, but also know when to interject a question, she asks great questions and is very direct which I appreciate. Best therapist I have had yet!”

“Great to work with”

“This girl is a certified baddie! I was struggling to come to terms with the end of my emotionally abusive relationship and she told me everything I needed to hear and accept in order to put myself first and come out of the relationship strong and confident. She was direct and empathetic, made me feel seen and respected, I had one video call with her and immediately felt like I could see things for what they were instead of letting my emotions get in the way of what had to be done. I am so grateful I was paired with Alissa, and I would definitely recommend her to all my girl friends and anyone who needs a strong woman on their side.”

“Alissa has been extremely helpful in dealing with my issues and situation<br /> . She understanding, sympathetic and encouraging, but also holds me responsible to my commitments and life style changes, offering solutions and not just platitudes. I feel comfortable expressing my feelings, fears and frustrations. She helps me to look at reasonable and realistic expectations. I would recommend her to any of my friends or family.”

“She is great, listens to me and doesn’t judge. Provide helpful information in a way that I can understand”

“I recently switched therapists due to the election and my issues with my former therapist's lack of empathy with my grief, and I could not be happier. While I am still getting to know Alissa, she will challenge me to be at my best and challenges me to prioritize certain things while passing on other things because they no longer service me. I am excited to grow under Alissa's care.”

“She is understanding, and makes you see things in a different light. I love that she is honest”

“I like how real she is. She doesn't interact with me like I'm just some client. She interacts with me like I'm a person and genuinely listens to me. She doesn't sugar coat anything which is something that I love.”

“Ms. Alissa is very easy to talk to. I don't feel judged and she gives great feedback to assist me in whatever concern I have at the moment.”

“Always giving me ways to deal with letting go of my anger.”
