About Alexander “Alex” Dannin

Greetings! It’s my passion and pleasure to support individuals who are looking to make meaningful changes in their life. I believe that our natural state is one of health and balance—feeling at peace, worthy, and capable. Life’s negative experiences can temporarily disrupt this state, leading to negative feelings and emotions. We intuitively sense something is off through our ‘negative’ emotions such as anger, sadness, or fear.

I view all feelings as inherently neutral; they are signals indicating whether we are in or out of alignment with our true selves. Emotions don’t exist in isolation—they serve as guides, bringing our attention to what we believe about ourselves and the situations we encounter. My role is to identify the beliefs underlying these emotions and to help you make the necessary changes in thoughts, behaviors, and actions to restore balance and reconnect with your natural state.

In terms of modalities, I draw from a range of approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy. I’m flexible and adapt my methods to suit each client’s unique needs, rather than fitting clients into a predefined model. I also incorporate principles of Human Design into my practice, using this unique system to provide additional insights into personal strengths, challenges, and life patterns, enhancing the therapeutic process.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in San Diego, California, with eight years of experience. I have worked with diverse populations including active-duty military, first responders, corporate professionals, retirees, young adults, and the homeless. Before transitioning to mental health, I worked in various corporate roles in IT and finance. Following my passion, I changed careers to support others on their journey to well-being.

“He offers calm, compassionate support that helps me process work‑related stress where I feel more grounded.”

“Wise person talks through your issues through analogies and doesn’t judge. He’s insightful and genuinely wants to help you. Will definitely keep seeing him, I can see already how this can help improve my state of mind”

“Alex is amazing. I feel totally comfortable speaking with him.”

“Alex has been able to quickly identify issues that previously took much longer for other therapists. His approach of reminding me that all my emotions are the result of my beliefs about my life has been really effective. If I can change those beliefs I can change those emotions. I never expected to build a connection with a therapist this quickly, especially considering we don’t meet face to face.”

“He is a great with helping me get to think of things and how positive he is in the process and they way he gives you motivation”

“Amazing therapist that begins healing right away. Dives in head first and addresses exactly what you're dealing with while immediately building on hope as the foundation for recovery. Highly recommend.”

“Alex gets to the underlying issues and guides me to a greater sense of self understanding and appreciation and by extension, others. Very happy working with Alex.”

“I’ve talked on & off with Alex for a few years . I don’t even have the words to express the help he’s given me over the years . 10/10 always .”

“I never believed a therapist would be able to help me figure things out about myself but Alex proved me wrong. His ability to listen and break down a problem then turn it into something empowering is amazing. He truly has changed my perception on so many things in my life that I thought I could never change. Thank you Alex for helping this guy regain his confidence and face life head on!”

“Alex is very thoughtful and patient with me. He understands that even my smaller problems have to be taken seriously, and he gives me the best advice he can to help me get through it. I’m very glad to have him as a therapist.”

“Alex is the therapist of my dreams. I am a spiritual person and needed someone with a multidimensional approach, and he has been a dream come true.”

“Alex does a great job of listening and providing feedback and offers suggestions for concrete tasks which benefit my healing process. He is down to earth and approachable. He respects my journey and encourages me to be my best self.”

“It's early in the process, but Alex has already gained my confidence in identifying root causes of issues I'm dealing with. He goes straight for underlying beliefs about situations I'm in. Later, I'll respond to how effective his recommendations are.”

“He’s the man!”

“Alex really helped me improve my self confidence, and understand my actions and emotions better. Alex always uses logic and reasoning to help guide you through your experiences”
