About Dr. Wallace “Dent” Gitchel

I am a therapist in Arkansas with over 25 years experience in mental health as a clinician and educator. I also have thirty years of meditation experience and am a certified teacher of mindfulness and compassion meditation, as well as the author of Pursuing Purpose: A Guide to Finding Meaning Through Meditation. I have worked with clients on a wide variety of issues, including stress management, depression anxiety, emotional and psychotic disorders, relationships, sexuality, shame, hopelessness and histories of trauma and abuse.

My therapy approach is compassion-oriented, and I strive to help my clients find more purpose, self-compassion and meaning in their lives. I approach my clients with warmth and acceptance. The therapeutic bond is very sacred to me and I strive to show up with honesty, integrity and authenticity. I believe very much in autonomy and the capacity to heal and will do everything in my power to assist you with your goals, and to provide you with tools to integrate into your life.

I applaud you in your courage to take this important step toward a more meaningful life and look very forward to assisting you on this important journey.

“Dr. Gitchel, or Dr. Dent, has been the best therapist I have had. He is kind, knowledgeable, and understanding. I have recommended his services to many of my friends.”

“Dr. Gitchel listens carefully and responds with helpful ideas and suggestions. His guidance in dealing with some issues has been very helpful.”

“Dent has helped me so much through difficult time. I have been better able to manage my emotions and become a better person with his help. I am grateful for the messages and check ins throughout the week. I can tell he really cares about me and what I am going through.”

“He is a professional therapist and helps me deal with everyday worry.”

“Dr. Gitchel is very thoughtful and asks good questions. His use of the ACT model has been very helpful for me, and he has listened to my ideas of using it in my life. I look forward to my weekly session.”

“Listens, knows how to respond, highly skilled therapist, compassionate and understanding, I've been in therapy for many years and I have ran into few therapists of Dr Gitchel's caliber. One of my biggest issues with therapists has always been trust. Dr Glitchel established that trust on the first session.”

“Dent is a fantastic therapist overall. Highly recommend him!”

“Compassionate and chill while getting right to the heart of therapy. Dent provided interventions in the very first session that brought emotional relief and a vision for what was next. He provided helpful feedback often to keep me focus on the new skills I was integrating.”

“Excellent”

“Two thumbs up for Dr. Gitchel! His calm demeanor and thoughtful responses were very helpful. I really appreciated how he framed our conversations within both Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness practices. He regularly referenced other professionals and shared resources for me to check out in between sessions. An element of working with Dent that especially stood out is his follow up. A day or two after each session, he sent a message summarizing what we'd discussed along with gentle suggestions for the week to come. I have no hesitation in recommending Dent to others who want support navigating life's challenges with more awareness and self-compassion.”

“Dent is a great man, with amazing expertise and good, usable ideas and strategies. He does not just listen but also guides you towards improvement with real world applicable strategies.”

“Dr. Gitchel is a fantastic therapist and a great person, who has helped me so much! Really grateful that I got to meet him!”

“Dent does the following:
- listens extraordinarily well
- gives prompt and detailed feedback
- effectively guides me to thinking about things from a healthier perspective”

“When I started therapy I was nervous to have the cliche therapist that just listens and asks “how does that make you feel” without giving feedback. This couldn’t be further from the truth with Dr Dent. He listened, cared and provided practical tools in helping me tackle my life’s challenges. 10/10 recommend and will be continuing our sessions later on”

“Dr Gitchel has been very helpful in my first experience with therapy. He listens and offers worksheets to help me, at my convenience. He encourages me to do what's best for me. I would recommend him to a friend.”
