About Esther Reynolds

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and have been in a private practice for over 25 years. I work with individuals who suffer from depression, anxiety, ADHD, and traumatic experiences (physical, emotional, and sexual). Family conflicts and relationship issues are also a focus of my practice.

My approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and rational emotive behavior therapy. I often coordinate mindfulness, insight-oriented approaches, and storytelling in my sessions, depending on an individual’s uniqueness.

My primary goal is to develop a therapeutic relationship built on trust. I believe that the client’s motivation is key to success and that all motivation must start with a destination, chosen by the client. I see myself just as a facilitator, guiding the client towards that destination.

I look forward to working with you!

“Excellent skill of observation, great listener, and very intuitive.”

“Highly recommended”

“Ester has an amazing way at looking at the world. Her expertise and thought process really helps to find my way out of anxiety and approach life’s toughness with preparation and support.
Love her”

“Esther is the absolute best therapist I have ever had. She has a depth of knowledge and experience, excellent interpersonal skills, and helps you become comfortable to where you can share your most intimate wounds, fears, and stressors. These are just a few of Esther’s attributes she brings to your therapy journey.”

“Eather is lovely and I benefit immensely from our weekly chats. She helps me see things through a different lens and really helps me figure out what questions I need to ask myself in order to move forward in my healing. She is simply wonderful!”

“She’s understanding, kind, and validating”

“Esther has been really patient and kind as I’m recovering from major spine surgery. I think she is a great match for me as I’m also dealing with past trauma, depression and anxiety. I know she can help me address the issues I’m dealing with.”

“Esther is the best therapist I've ever had. Her way of looking at things and strategies appeals to me. I'm a person who wants homework, to DO something about what I'm feeling. Esther is always ready and understanding. I love my conversations with her.”

“I really enjoy working with Esther. She is open to many different ways of how life should be lived which is invaluable to me since most of my family members are atypical and fall into a variety of spectrums ie narcissist to autistic; fundamental Christian to paganism; extreme left, right, upside down political views etc.

Then, of course, there is me with all of the facets of my frayed and debilitated personality. Somehow, Esther is able to wade through it all, connect with the real me and provide the support that I need. Esther’s perception of my reality allows her to guide me along a path that helps me grow. As I am able, she encourages me to do more, or slow me down if I am getting ahead of myself. Esther always encourages me and focuses on my growth.

I also like Esther’s honesty. Esther shares her knowledge with me but also lets me know if she is not familiar with a subject in which I am inquiring. In those situations, she suggestions ways for me to pursue the information I need and she will research it too.

I have a hard time trusting and connecting with people so I am very pleased with my relationship with Esther.”

“She listen, understands and provides empathy. She helps will communication as its not my strong suit and has been really helpful in so many ways”

“Esther is wonderful and understands my concerns. She is helping me for what I need most - focusing on myself again and ignoring the noise in my head.”

“She's great”

“I have really benefited greatly from BetterHelp and my therapist. I feel like it has been and will continue to be an aid to my progress. Therapy has been a huge life changer for me, and I can't say enough good things about both my therapist and the BetterHelp program!!! :)”

“Esther helped change my life. She supports me through all of my decisions and issues. She reassures me that I’m feelings are valid. She guides me through the emotions. She’s an amazing woman”

“Ms. Reynolds has been very helpful. She encourages me to focus on the moment and has given me excellent effective tools to control my anxiety. She is more focused on how to handle the emotions than on figuring out why they are there. This allows me to correct my present rather than wallow in the past. My quality and enjoyment of life are so much better since employing the techniques she has taught me. I am so glad I found her.”
