About Marlene Fannon

Thank you for sharing information about yourself. I’m so happy that you reached out for help. I am Marlene Fannon, a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW-S). I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Ohio State University. I have been working with individuals who live with mental health and substance abuse issues, couples, and/or groups for more than twenty years in person, online, by phone, or through chat/messaging. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, depression, coping with grief and loss, LGBTQ+ related issues, & motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. There are several therapies that are proven to be effective for the types of mental health issues that I typically provide counseling for, including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Narrative Therapy. It is also possible to do combinations of some of the above-listed therapy types, if you would prefer. If you are familiar with the different therapy types and have a preference, please let me know which type or combinations you would prefer. If you are not familiar with the types but would like a brief explanation of one or more of the above, let me know and I can send you that information, also. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step toward seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. You can read more about my background, education, experience, and therapy approach by clicking on my name on this page. I will try to respond to messages within 24 hours. Sometimes I may be able to respond right away, but other times I might be busy with other clients or personal matters so it might take a bit longer to reply, but never more than 24 hours. I try to offer flexibility in scheduling to meet clients’ needs, so if you need an appointment on a day or at a time that is not in my schedule, please let me know and I will try to accommodate any requests. If you would like to schedule a session, you can go to my schedule and schedule it yourself, or you can let me know which format you would prefer (a video session, telephone session, or a chat/messaging session) and what days and times would be convenient for you and I can schedule it for you. I look forward to working with you. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks, Marlene Fannon.

“She does a very good job of letting you work through your issues and concerns independently but knows the correct questions to ask and points out different ideas to help work through things. She takes note of the little details and brings them up every week to track progress!”

“I have been in therapy with Marlene for over 2 years. She has helped me tremendously. I cannot speak more highly of her. She is compassionate, open-minded, and very supportive. Marlene has tools to assist you on your journey toward mental wellness and healing. She's a wealth of knowledge and has the experience to best support a person going through very difficult emotional struggles of all types. The uncertainty of finding the right therapist can be frightening - especially when your life is in disarray. But I believe that Marlene is one of the few therapists who could be a good fit for anyone.”

“Very helpful and easy to talk to. I loved the worksheets she sent and the mediation during sessions. Thank you!”

“Marlene has been very helpful. I came to her with anxiety and she has pointed me in the direction to get help and learn coping skills!”

“Very easy to talk with and to - Marlene was very personable and made me feel comfortable each visit that we had!”

“She is very kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. She listens well.”

“The best therapy experience I’ve ever had.
My therapist has completely changed how I view and experience therapy. She never makes me feel bad for what I’m struggling with and somehow sees deeper into my issues than I can even explain. She gets right to the root of things and helps me make real progress.
She has this amazing way of having me laughing while I cry—turning heavy moments into something healing and hopeful. Her advice is always realistic and thoughtful, not the typical “just think positive” kind of talk. She truly understands that complicated problems aren’t always easy to fix and meets me exactly where I’m at.
I’m so grateful to have found her.”

“Marlene excels is listening and hearing the whole story. She has a great ability to be level headed and approach situations with a soft touch. I requested a middle party/ teacher for our couples therapy and I believe she provides those characteristics to our sessions.”

“Marlene is such a sweet lady. Talking to her feels natural and she is helping me manage the important next steps to keep me focused each week. 10/10”

“I pleasure to work with very understandable”

“She’s amazing!”

“We have just started so a lot of the time thus far is history giving. But she has been attentive and nonjudgmental. She has given me a comfortable space to reflect on my choices.”

“Very professional, helpful, and understanding. Only had one session so far but it already helped my confidence. Highly recommend if you're dealing with confidence issues.”

“Marlene is an empathetic listener and offered me sound perspective about my grief over my beloved mother's death (and some other family experiences that have been challenging). I would absolutely recommend her.”
