Non-Technology Addictions and Compulsive Behaviors

The Center for Internet and Technology Addiction (CITA) offers a wide range of treatment and services to assist in a variety of addictive/compulsive and impulsive behaviors. These include, but are not limited to, drug and alcohol abuse and addiction, as well as a variety of behavior-based addictions and compulsions; including sex, food, work, computer/Internet use, gambling, exercise, and shopping.

We offer a variety of treatment approaches and strategies that combine the best of traditional psychotherapeutic and medication treatments, along with some newer alternative and complementary approaches that can assist in changing addictive patterns and compulsions, reducing urges and cravings, and returning one’s behavior to one of self-control and self-confidence.

The potential for addictive and compulsive behavior is inherent to the human condition. We all have times in which we find ourselves compulsively using or abusing behaviors or substances. Many if not most times, these behaviors come and go and we are able to achieve control through our own redirection and efforts. At times it is necessary to seek the assistance of a healing professional as well as other community resources such as 12-Step support groups and other services to regain a sense of balance and control in our lives. Although we can never eliminate the potential for overusing, abusing, or being addicted to certain substances or behaviors, we can minimize these circumstances and learn to recognize the underlying emotions and issues that tend to move us in an automated way to these patterns and behaviors.

CITA is proud to offer a variety of services which can help you help yourself.
